– At a Discount
Laurie and Daryle Bowles figured they’d be paying through the nose
when they decided to take a spa trip for their second anniversary. After
all, the Bellevue, Wash., couple had waited until the last minute to start
their planning. And to them, the very word spa always meant expensive.
But something happened on the way to the mud bath: Scouring around for
reservations, the Bowleses found a barrage of deals. One hotel was
offering a $100 room-service credit and a disposable camera if the
Bowleses booked a full weekend. Another promised champagne, choclolates
and a romantic dinner. Then there’s the place they ultimately picked,
the Stormking Spa and Cabins at the foot of Mount Rainier in Washington.
Their two nights in a secluded cabin (with a private hot tub and couples
massage): $600. “The cost was incredibly reasonable, says Laurie Bowles,
